1607: Τρία αγγλικά πλοία διασχίζουν τον Ατλαντικό Ωκεανό και καταφθάνουν στο Νέο Κόσμο, την Αμερική, μετά από πολύμηνη περιπλάνηση στη θάλασσα. Ιδρύουν την αποικία Τζέιμσταουν στην Πολιτεία της Βιρτζίνια, ευελπιστώντας να ζήσουν σε μια νέα Γη της Επαγγελίας, γεμάτη χρυσάφι και δυνατότητες! Όμως, γρήγορα οι ελπίδες τους διαψεύδονται και δυσκολεύονται να τα βγάλουν πέρα στις νέες (ασυνήθιστες γι' αυτούς) συνθήκες.Ο καπετάνιος Τζον Σμιθ, τίθεται επικεφαλής αποστολής για περισυλλογή τροφής. Όμως, οι ντόπιοι ιθαγενείς Πουμούνκις, δεν τρέφουν φιλικά αισθήματα προς τους νεοφερμένους Ευρωπαίους και αφού αποδεκατίζουν πολλούς από τους συντρόφους του Σμιθ, κρατούν τον ίδιο αιχμάλωτο. Εκείνος, όχι μόνο γοητεύεται από τον τρόπο ζωής τους, αλλά ερωτεύεται και την κόρη του αρχηγού τους, την Ποκαχόντας, που είναι έτοιμη να τον ακολουθήσει παντού.Όταν η σχέση τους γίνεται αντιληπτή, ο πατέρας της Ποκ...
